That question popped into the head of Dr. Vonda Wright one day while she was out jogging.
She'd been jogging for 10 years, doing the same old same old - at a speed of 9.5-10 minutes a mile. The day that question popped into her mind, she started working at getting better and faster.
After a few months of training, she ended up running a 10-kilometer race at a speed of 7:44 minutes a mile. She'd never even thought such a thing before she did it.
"There’s a difference between being involved and being committed. To be an athlete you must be committed...That is not to say that training is easy. Being an athlete requires dedication and training." New York Times 8.30.07The focus of the article is women working out and running in races, but it applies to anything we "do", doesn't it?
Are you committed to your NM or just involved?
Committed doesn't mean full time. It means committing to learning to "network sell" using your style, your strengths, and transparent and genuine approach language that does not bop the other person over the head.
P.S. I'm testing the phrase: Network sell/seller/selling. To make it more transparent what we do. To ourselves first, then to others.

Yes, yes, yes -- committed to learning not to bop, absolutely. Because just when you think you've got it, suddenly you're not paying attention and out pops another bop, darn. Listen and learn, self, listen and learn.
Can't stop thinking about that old joke re eggs and bacon for breakfast -- the chicken is involved, the pig is committed.
Different commitment, thank goodness. :)

That's exactly the reason I keep pushing myself further and further because once I reach my goal of whatever it is, I need to set another one. If you had know me 2 years ago you would have seen a completely different person than today...And 2 years from now I will be completely different from today still.
I am all for committment to learn but I am also committed to succeed. We can take all the knowledge in but we need to be committed to action.
The Dr. Wright could have learned a lot about running faster and training harder but until she put that to use she didn't get any better.
So like Dianne and Ilka said we will reach our goals and become different by striving hard day to day. Isn't that why we are here at Kim's site?

Diane's joke about the chicken being involved and the pig committed takes it to an all new perspective.
In order for us to be truely successful, we must be committed to our network marketing business.
I have seen many network marketers who were not "sure" yet about the business, therefore not really committed. When the going got tough, they tended to be the ones to throw in the towel because they just weren't committed enough to wake up each day and "decide to succeed no matter what"

Absolutely committed and I know what I'm capable of...anything I set my mind to. The challenge is following through with the action that's required to meet my goals. That action is much easier when I'm completely confident of what to do and say to people to build my business quickly. That's why I'm so glad to have found this community and to be a participant in your upcoming class!

What am I really capable of?
If someone wants something bad enough he can do almost anything to get it.
So we are all capable of achieving everything we want bad enough.
So our capability depends on our level of desire. We might have the potential to do it, but if we don't have enough desire we won’t do it.
And capability of doing something and actually doing it has a big difference...so I guess here comes commitment. HOW committed is someone about something.
...and here comes another question...is there a 'problem' with over-commitment. If someone is over-committed in learning about network marketing and all he does is just learn and never apply or share what he knows...isn't that a 'problem' too?
So Commitment should be controlled too. We should know what we want to achieve, believe that we are capable of doing the things necessary to achieve it and then commit ourselves on doing the things/steps to achieve our goal/result.
So what do you think about over-committing?

What am I capable of?
The psychologist in me says – “You are capable of anything – just do it.”
One can never know what is possible unless the attempt is made [for legal activities of course ☺ ]
The human mind and body are made for challenges. We use so little of our brain we still don’t know what we can accomplish mentally and we see from athletic that the body is a phenomenal machine capable of feats that were unheard of not that long go.
As a therapist I am a believer that we are never stuck where we are and are capable of changing what we wish to change. All we have to do – is DO!
According to Yoda "Do, or do not. There is no 'try.'"

You asked, "Are you committed to your NM or just involved?"
That is a key question and the reason why many people don't experience success. To be committed is the difference between success and failure for many people.
You're right, being committed doesn't mean you have to be full time. To me it means being consistent in your actions, sticking with it when it may not be easy, and doing what it takes.
Being involved can mean using the product, listening to a conference call once in a while, talking to a few people about your opportunity, but not doing what it really takes.
Me - I'm committed.
Theadore from Greece asked if it is possible to be over-committed. Yes, I believe there is that possibility. People's marriages have ended due to an over-zealous spouse who ignores a family in pursuit of their business commitments. One has to be careful to also honor the previous commitments they made.
I really appreciated Theadore's comments because it made me realize that sometimes my commitment to my network marketing business can cause me to sometimes not honor fully the other commitments I've made. In fact, it led to a
post on my blog on the subject.
So thanks for the reminder.

Are You BookWise?
Thanks, all!
Leisa: Re your Top 40 question, we list the companies, and link to the iGaggle/NMC members profiles. :) It's one way we support the members.
We don't link to any rep/enroller sites, just the company main page, and where we have rep members, to THEIR profiles. Try it for the Bookwise link in the Top 40 now - you'll see members come up. You can be there too, once you're in NMC.
Hi Kim,
I did in fact join network marketing central the same day I wrote the above post. I'm still writing my profile, but have some content there.
